Galaxy S25 Release Date: When Does the Galaxy S25 Come Out?

Alongside the Apple iPhone 16 and the Google Pixel 9, the Samsung Galaxy S24 is one of the best phones on the market right now. The entry-level flagship device excels with its impressive battery life, powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, and an even higher peak brightness than the S23 series.

However, the real stand-out element of last year's S24 launch was the Galaxy AI features, which include everything from Circle to Search to Live Translate. These features remain a big work in progress and are expected to benefit from further improvements with the launch of the Galaxy S25 series.

The design and features of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, S25+, and the base model have so far been the subject of much speculation, including a new rectangular body that could rival the iPhone 16 Pro. But when can we expect to learn more about the true capabilities of the S25 series?

Keep reading as we explore the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S25 release date and take a look at some of the range's potential new features.

When Will the Samsung Galaxy S25 Be Announced?

Our first look at the new Samsung Galaxy S25 series will be at the Galaxy Unpacked event.

This event is held twice a year, usually in January and July, and allows Samsung to showcase its latest launches. Flagship models like the Galaxy mobile phone range are often included in the main announcement, as well as other lines such as the Galaxy Watch and Ring devices.

While only the press, influencers, and Samsung influencers are invited to Galaxy Unpacked, smartphone enthusiasts can attend the event virtually for a preview of the new Samsung phones.

This year's first Galaxy Unpacked is expected to be held on January 22nd or 23rd, running a week behind last year's Galaxy S24 release schedule.

What is the Galaxy S25 Release Date?

Pre-orders for the latest Galaxy devices usually open just after the Unpacked event. This year, the pre-order window is expected to start on Friday January 24th and remain open for around 11 days, ending on Tuesday February 4th.

Customers who purchase the S25 during this window will benefit from offers and discounts on enhanced storage and accessories, such as the Galaxy Buds. You may also be able to access handset colours that are exclusive to the Samsung website, including Pink Gold, Jade Green, and Jet Black.

The Galaxy S25 range should then be available to buy between Wednesday 5th and Friday 7th of February around the world, if Samsung sticks to its usual timetable.

Will the Galaxy S25 Slim and FE Launch at the Same Time?

The Galaxy S25 Ultra and Plus aren't the only two models that are expected to contribute to the S25 series.

Another rumoured launch is the Galaxy S25 FE, a slightly cheaper alternative to the Galaxy S range. This joins the Galaxy S25 Slim, which will be thinner and lighter than the standard model.

However, if this year's FE launch follows the same schedule as previous years, we won't see the S25 FE until around 6 months later. The S25 Slim may launch alongside the rest of the series if its designs are completed in time, while some rumours suggest that the device will make an appearance between 2 and 3 months later.

What to Expect from the Galaxy S25: Features and Design

With a release date expected at the start of 2025, there have already been plenty of rumours circulating about the Samsung Galaxy S25. Based on these rumours and previous models in the series, here's what you can potentially expect from Samsung's newest device:

Design and Display

Both the Galaxy S25 and S25 Plus are expected to keep the same armour aluminium frame as the S24. The S25 Ultra model will also continue to enjoy a robust titanium frame, while upgrading its display to the new second-generation Gorilla Glass Armour for extra screen durability.

However, one area that's unlikely to see an upgrade is the screen brightness. All three models are rumoured to be keeping the same M13 OLED displays as the S24, which are significantly dimmer than those of the Google Pixel 9 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro.

The S25's screen size may increase slightly from 6.2 inches to 6.36 inches, meaning that it would match its rival iPhone model. The phone itself is therefore likely to be bigger to accommodate this increase.

Rumours also suggest that the Galaxy S25 could sport more rounded corners and flat edges, offering a more comfortable grip similar to that of the iPhone 16. New colours may include:

  • Sparkling Green
  • Sparkling Blue
  • Silver Shadow
  • Moon Night Blue
  • Titanium Black (Ultra)
  • Titanium Blue (Ultra)
  • Titanium Gold (Ultra)
  • Titanium Silver (Ultra)

Battery Life

Battery capacity is likely to stay the same across the entire Galaxy S25 range, at:

  • 4000 mAh for the base model
  • 4900 mAh for the Plus
  • 5000 mAh for the Ultra

Convenient Qi2 magnetic wireless charging could also feature, including a faster 15W charging speed.Β

All three models will include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which features a 45% performance improvement over the already powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. This will deliver higher efficiency in terms of battery life, allowing users to utilise Galaxy AI features for longer, without consuming so much power.

Boosted graphics performance and faster Galaxy AI processing are other benefits that this chip could offer.

Camera

Samsung's new flagship phones are likely to feature some enhanced camera capabilities – particularly the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

While the S24's camera system was downgraded to a 5x optical zoom, the S25's Ultra Wide camera could benefit from a new 50 MP sensor. This would offer clearer, brighter photos compared to the S24's 12 MP sensor. Its lens may also feature an f/1.7 aperture to improve low-light mobile photography quality.Β

Further rumours point to the addition of a telephoto camera. This would create a quad camera setup that seamlessly adjusts between different zoom levels.

Price

The inclusion of the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset means that the Galaxy S25 series may see a price hike, with the new Galaxy chip costing around 20% more than the previous version. Samsung is also reported to be dealing with increased manufacturing costs that could contribute to the higher price tag.

The S24 base model started at $1,399, meaning that the Galaxy S25 may start at $1,460. Other models in the series could be priced as follows:

  • Plus: S24: $1,699/ S25: $1,760
  • Ultra: S24: $2,199/ S25: $2,260
