Samsung Galaxy S25 Price: How Much Will It Cost?
From the Google Pixel 9 to the Apple iPhone 16, the past year has seen a variety of fantastic flagship phone launches from the world's biggest tech companies. Joining these releases this year is Samsung's Galaxy S25 series, which is due to launch at the Galaxy Unpacked event.
The event is expected to unveil three new Samsung flagships: the Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, and the S25 Ultra. Other potential launches include the Android XR, Samsung's VR headset, more details about the One UI 7 software, and new Galaxy AI features.
Rumors suggest that the devices could see several upgrades from previous models, including an upgraded 50 MP Ultra Wide camera lens, greater power efficiency, and the star of the show: Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon Elite 8 Generation 4 chipset. But how will these improvements affect the launch price?
What is the Galaxy S25 Launch Date?
The Galaxy Unpacked event has been confirmed for January 22nd 2025, in San Jose, California, running a week behind last year’s Galaxy S24 schedule. This biannual conference should reveal more about the features and design of the Samsung Galaxy S25, including the official prices and any upgrades that we may see from the S24 line.
Following Unpacked,S25 pre-orders are likely to open around Friday 24th January, with the window remaining open until Tuesday 4th February.
If Samsung sticks to its usual timetable, the official release date for the S25 range is then expected to be between Wednesday 5th and Friday 7th February.
Galaxy S25 Prices
The S24 base device started at $1,399 for 256 GB, with prices increasing to $1,599 for a higher storage capacity of 512 GB. The Galaxy S25 is expected to be the most affordable of Samsung's flagship models, therefore following the same pricing pattern as past models.
However, rumors suggest that there is likely to be a small price hike to offset the costs of the new Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. This could cost approximately 20% more than the 8 Gen 3 chip that featured in the S24, meaning that the S25 may retail for around $1,460.
The chip looks set to rival the Apple A18 Pro, with 6 new performance cores that offer a 44% boost in power efficiency. This will support a longer battery life, smoother scrolling, and faster app launches. It also facilitates better generative AI capabilities, which is ideal for Samsung's rumoured Galaxy AI updates.
Galaxy S25 Plus Prices
Last year's Galaxy S24 Plus saw a few small design upgrades, such as a larger QHD+ display and a more durable Armour Aluminium frame. The refresh rate was also improved to 1-120Hz for smoother scrolling, while a higher 2,600-nit peak brightness offers better viewing in sunny conditions.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus isn't expected to see many design changes and may share the same flat sides, rounded corners, and back glass as the S24.
However, in line with the rest of the series, the larger model could cost as much or slightly more than its predecessor. With the estimated $60 price increase of the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, the S25 Plus may start at $1,760 for 256 GB of storage.
Galaxy S25 Ultra Prices
The Ultra model is the premium offering within Samsung's Galaxy S range, which is reflected in its pricing. Depending on the storage chosen, the current S24 Ultra costs:
-
256 GB: $2,199
-
512 GB: $2,399
-
1 TB: $2,799
This higher price is due to the larger display, a tougher durable titanium frame, and a more scratch-resistant Gorilla Armour glass than the base model.
Early design leaks suggest the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra could feature rounded corners for a more comfortable grip compared to the older model, along with the second-generation Gorilla Glass Armour. If the rumours are true, this will offer the toughest display of any device in the Galaxy S range.
Coupled with the new chipset, these changes mean that the S25 Ultra could start at $2,260 for 256 GB of storage.
Galaxy S25 Slim Predictions
As a thinner, lighter alternative to the base model, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim may also launch with the rest of the S25 range.
Other rumours suggest that it could take a few more months to finalise the design, making an appearance on the smartphone market between 2 and 3 months after the original launch date.
The S25 would be the first Galaxy range to see a Slim model, so prices are difficult to predict. However, early estimations show that it could be priced somewhere between the S25 Plus and Ultra models, from $1,699 to $2,199.
