Of course, there are some updates that got people excited, like the new feature under the Privacy Display mode. While we’ve come to expect big things from Samsung, like the oversized Galaxy Note or the innovative Z Flip technology, some tech experts say they’ve lost their edge.

What are the Different Models Available in the New Samsung Lineup?

In keeping with the tradition that Samsung follows with their new product lines, this new series comprises the Galaxy S26, the Galaxy S26+, and the Galaxy S26 Ultra. In terms of design, this new series is designed to be slim, long-lasting, and robust.

The S26 is the lower-end version of the new series, with a lower capacity battery of 4,300 mAh, with the capability to run 30 hours of video playback. In addition to this, it has fewer storage and RAM variants, as well as a lower 6.3-inch display. 

The S26+ is the middle-end version of the new series, with a higher capacity battery of 4,900 mAh, as well as a higher 6.7-inch display.

And lastly, the premium choice is, of course, the S26 Ultra. Here, you’ve got more storage options (up to 1 TB), 12 or 16 GB of RAM, extra camera capabilities with 200 MP Wide and 100x Digital Zoom, as well as a 6.9” Dynamic Display and cinematic 19.5:9 screen ratio.

As we mentioned above, Samsung has gone all in on AI for this round of Galaxy phones. You’ll see integrations across the lineup, from help with rewriting text or crafting snappy emails to editing photos. 

This is a big one for amateur photographers who may not be the most skilled at Photoshop but still want to make the most of the Galaxy S26 Camera. Samsung Galaxy AI features can help remove unwanted distractions from your pics, add friends in, or make an entirely new background for you. 

Alongside this is Google Gemini and Perplexity, which are ready to go straight out of the box. Perplexity is even integrated with Samsung’s Bixby assistant alongside manufacturer apps to make your life easier. 

There are big plans on the company’s end to create agentic AI for your phone. In theory, that means having an AI that does things for you without asking, and is supposed to be a seamless way to get things done. In practice, it remains to be seen how effective this sci-fi helper will be. 

What’s the Difference Between the Galaxy S25 and the Galaxy S26?

When it comes to the S25 and S26, the former is a little more compact but has an older processor, while the latter offers better size and battery capacity. 

The S25 remains a more affordable option for Samsung enthusiasts, but the camera hasn’t changed since the S22. As a three-year-old rear camera system, the lower quality will only become more noticeable over time. 

The specs remain largely the same across cameras, with both sporting a 50 MP Wide, 12 MP Ultra Wide, and 10 MP Tele 3x Optical Zoom on the back and 12 MP on the front. The only major difference between the based models is the 30x Space Zoom on the S25 versus the 30x Digital Zoom on the S26. 

On the other hand, the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy is still a powerful processor in the S25 and comes with a seven-year software update promise, so there’s decent support for the foreseeable future. 

In comparison, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (customized for Galaxy devices) that powers the S26 range. This is expected to provide a 19% boost to CPU, 24% boost to GPU, stronger graphics for gaming with ray tracing performance, and better responsiveness for AI, according to Android Central. 

What are the Benefits of Galaxy AI?

Galaxy AI offers some great, useful features, such as AI document scanning, camera horizon lock, and Privacy Display. 

The technology for privacy screens has been out for some time, but the feature of Privacy Display, which is included in the Galaxy S26 Ultra, is what takes it to the next level. Getting a filter is an additional cost, which will have to be replaced at some point, and it can affect the quality. 

Some of the benefits of a built-in Privacy Display include:

• No lining up a filter perfectly

• Better protection from more viewing angles

• Automatic activation for certain apps or notifications

Alongside the privacy filter is the horizon lock in the video camera. This helps to keep your camera locked in place while shooting videos and ensures that your image is super-steady. Another cool feature that AI offers is the Audio Eraser, a video editing feature that helps to eliminate unwanted sounds while keeping voices clear.

And to round things off, the AI document scanner feature smoothes out creases and can even eliminate fingerprints from the scanned image, making it look more professional. 

Should You Invest in the Newest Samsung Phone?

The S26 may be worth your money since it offers some useful upgrades from the S25, but if you’re not fussed about having all the latest innovations, then your S25 may be the better choice for now. 

While the S25 launched at $799 for 128 GB storage, the S26 starts at $899.99 for 256 GB base storage as standard. 

You can knock some money off the price of getting a new Samsung with trade-in credits for eligible devices through Samsung and providers like AT&T and Verizon offering their own trade-in options. 

Plus, with the arrival of a new model, it often leads to bigger discounts on older models. So, for those who are not too keen on going totally AI in this generation, there is still a great phone in the S25 range that is still reliable for the next couple of years.

While the S25 is great because it is so small and light, the S26 is a bit heavier. Though it has a larger screen, the screen specs are still expected to be the same.
